Harbinger robin
chirrups before our sunrise
pecks through frozen mud
“The birds nest beside the streams
and sing among the branches of the trees.”
Psalm 104:12 (New Living Translation)

Spring is coming. My first sighting of a robin occurred last week. It gave a huge lift to my spirit – the same feeling I receive when I read your poetry and reflection. Sending hugs along with my thanks.

A lovely haiku. Of late, “chirrup” has become one of my favorite words.

Thank you, Liz. It was the only word I could find to describe the robin’s primary song. Sounds like ‘cheer up’ which it definitely does. π

Lovely poetry of the wonderful season of Spring. Soon the Robins will be stopping in my yard – a wonderful sight to see.

Thank you, Peggy. They stay year round even in some places like Wisconsin, although we hardly see them. I did recently, so that was a treat.

Robins migrate thru Arkansas in Spring and Fall. We have a few pairs that stay all year.

What a perfect picture for your haiku! Someday soon I will be able to see the grass and the robins in the yard. Right now we just have snow and the robins are still down south. Thanks for sharing!

It’s time to visualize those robins scooting around on warm earth and green grass! π

Beautifully done. Robins are absolutely a harbinger – but have you already seen them?

Thanks, Frank. Yes, I have seen a couple diehards. The migration will start in about a month, maybe sooner with our unseasonably warm weather.
